Gaelic Games Hurling due Friday November 9th
November 7th, 2007. [ Comments: none ]

We had the date wrong for the release of Gaelic Games Hurling on the PS2 - rather than being November 30th it is in fact this Friday, November 9th.

Thanks to some eagle eyed readers and Game store for confirming that.

Only 2 more days till we can start soloing, pulling, chopping and lifting Liam McCarthy on the PS2.

Weekend Fixtures for November 10th/11th
November 7th, 2007. [ Comments: 3 ]

Sunday November 11th
Leinster Senior Club Quarter Final
Ballyboden St. Endas (Dublin) v Oulart the Ballagh (Wexford) - Parnell Park 1.30pm

Limerick County Final
Adare v Croom (3pm)

Saturday November 10th
Connacht Senior Club Semi Final Replay
Athleague (Roscommon) v Ballina James Stephens (Mayo) - Athleague 1.30pm

Just two games of note this weekend in the club scene. The big one is obviously the clash of the Dublin and Wexford Champions. Ballyboden won their first Dublin title this year but did so pretty impressively and they seem to have a strong team. Oulart the Ballagh comfortably won the Wexford title and have a host of county players. It could be a close one, if Ballyboden haven’t overdone the celebrating after their county success and they get a big support in parnell park they could well surprise the Wexford champs.

Gaelic Games Hurling Screenshots

There are some screenshots of the new Gaelic Games Hurling Playstation 2 game available over on the site of the developers IRGurus. Can’t provide a direct link to the images so I’ve reproduced 3 of them here but you can see all nine if you head over to their site.

Other than these there doesn’t seem to be any advance reviews yet. I guess we’ll just have to wait till November 30th when it’s released. UPDATE: It’s actually being released Friday November 9th, not such a long wait after all.

GAA ideals die if we get these grants
November 5th, 2007. [ Comments: 1 ]

Great article by Fermanagh’s Colm Bradley in the Sunday Tribune yesterday about the whole GPA grants issue - GAA ideals die if we get these grants.

You can click that link above to read the whole article - but basically he says he doesn’t agree with the grants and he offers up very good reasons why and then he questions the whole direction of the GAA anyway in such money and profit obsessed times.

The fact that he’s a top class player himself adds a lot of substance to his article.

Club action - November 4th
November 5th, 2007. [ Comments: 2 ]

Most of the county finals have now been played and we’re getting into the club championship action. One of the last county finals was the Waterford one where Ballduff Upper beat the favourites Ballygunner by 1-18 to 1-14 to win their first title in 20 years.

In a big game in the Munster club quarter final Loughmore-Castleiney of Tipp beat Erin’s Own of Cork by 2-11 to 0-14. Also down south Clare’s new champions Tulla easily beat Lixnaw of Kerry on a score of 4-16 to 2-6.

In a surprisingly close game in Leinster Ballyhale Shamrocks only beat Mattock Rangers of Carlow by 1-14 to 0-12.
