Another slap in the face for Antrim hurlers from the GAA. Antrim had requested an earlier start to their league game on Sunday against Waterford in Dungarvan. It’s scheduled for 2.30pm, they would have been looking for something like 1pm to allow for travel because most of their players are from the north of the county. The CCCC, which is the GAA’s fixture-making body turned down the request, haven’t seen any reason why.
The GPA are on the case quickly to express their dissapointment with the decision. It started with Antrim being given a crap championship draw, then they were only given 2 home fixtures in the league now they’re being kicked again by officials with no appreciation for players. Given that Waterford were apparently willing to play earlier it’s a bizaare decision but maybe it can still be sorted before Sunday.
