[ # ] Cork and Waterford to playoff
March 25th, 2008

Following the confusion over final placings in Division 1A of the league the Central Competitions Control Committee have decided that Cork and Waterford will play off to decide 2nd and 3rd places while Dublin finish ahead of Wexford on scoring difference.

The Cork Waterford play off will be in the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick next Sunday at 3pm. Seems a bit stupid having a playoff after 5 rounds of league action - it’s basically a cop out from failing to deal with the Cork strike situation properly. Justin McCarthy is already on record as not being too happy with the idea.

Dublin get to stay in Division 1 next year while Wexford are relegated to Division 2 with Laois, Offaly and Antrim.

However Wexford are appealing the fact that Waterford and Kilkenny got 2 points without having to play Cork so there could be more twists in this yet.
